The Young Fabians Environment Network is looking to establish a sub-group on Rural Affairs. Rural Affairs have in the past been an 'afterthought' for Labour. With Sir Keir Starmer having been the first Labour leader to have addressed the National Farmers' Union since 2008, it is clear that Labour is on a new course to connect with rural communities. It is also time the Young Fabians' made sure rural communities and affairs were properly represented and taken into consideration in our own policy discussions.
This steering meeting will be a chance for the Young Fabians to begin to ensure rural communities are represented in wider policy discussions and offer rural members a means to support one another. All are welcome to join us on Friday (including non-members of the Environment Network). We will be discussing what this group may look like, what the group could achieve and how you can get involved.
