About the YF Policy Research Fellowship

The fellowship is a programme that is aimed at Young Fabians who are passionate about a career in policy research. It aims to equip students or those in early careers with the skills, knowledge, and network needed to work in and influence policy development. 

The fellowship programme will run for approximately six months. Fellows will receive a series of skills sessions from experts and the chance to complete their own research project, which will be published on the Young Fabians website. Fellows will have a series of online skills sessions from experts and be provided with guidance and support from YF volunteers with research experience to complete their own project, which will be published on the Young Fabians website.

The first cohort of the Young Fabians Policy Fellowship ran from August 2024 to February 2025 . You can view the research projects here for examples of the kind of research successful applicants would be doing. 

Apply to the fellowship

There are only about 15-20 places on the fellowship, so applications are competitive. We encourage applications from Young Fabians from all backgrounds and regions of the UK, particularly those who have not had experience of policy research but can demonstrate a passion for a career in this space. The skills sessions will be online so accessible to those for and there will be one in-person / hybrid launch day in August. The information for this will be given in advance notice to book travel if desired, and there will be a hybrid option.
