After a year and half of Zoom calls, the Young Fabians are back in person for our Return to 3D Open Day!
Join us from 10.45am onwards for an 11am start on Saturday 18 September.
We'll be in the ground floor meeting room at the Fabian Society's offices in 61 Petty France, Westminster, SW1H 9EU (less than 5 mins' walk from St James's Park Underground Station, or 10 minutes mins' walk from Victoria Station).
You'll have the chance to meet new people, discuss solutions to the big issues facing us in the 2020s, and find out more about how to get involved.
Our topics for the day will include:
🐢 11.00-11.30: An Introduction to the Fabian Society and Young Fabians. You can join the Fabians here if you haven't already: if you're under 31, you'll automatically become a member of the Young Fabians!
🌍 11.30-12.30: Communicating the Climate Emergency: A workshop on how to inspire change ahead of COP26 in November, hosted by the Young Fabians' Environment Network and Communications Network.
🌹 13.15-14.00: Politics as a Vocation: Practical advice on working in politics, with Unmesh Desai AM (London Assembly Member and anti-racism campaigner) and Hollie Wickens (our Secretary, and a Parliamentary caseworker).
🏘️ 14.00-15.00: Can We Build Our Way Out of the Housing Crisis? A constructive debate with speakers from PricedOut (England's national campaign for affordable house prices) and the Young Fabians' upcoming pamphlet, Britain's Broken Housing Sector: Lived Experience & Policy Solutions.
🤖 15.20-16.20: What Artificial Intelligence Means for Us: An audience discussion on how AI will challenge and redefine liberal values in work, politics and public policy. This will form part of our #AI2021 grassroots campaign with the Progressive Technology Centre.
⏩ 16.20-16.30: Recap and quick Q&A on how to get involved in the Young Fabians.
The Open Day will finish at 16.30, followed by a social at a nearby pub on Petty France.
