Do you love books? Have you only read 3 and a half of the 30 books you said you’d read in lockdown 1?
Well we have the event for you! The Young Fabian book club is BACK with a new theme… REDRESS THE BALANCE
Certain voices have dominated the political conversation and we want to change that. We are going to discuss books about hidden voices from UK political history; people who changed the trajectory of politics and need FAR more recognition.
Join us on Thursday 22nd April on Zoom for the first instalment where we will be discussing Sophia: Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary by Anita Anand.
Anand tells the story of a Sikh princess turned English aristocrat. The goddaughter of Queen Victoria and a leading figure in the suffragette movement who transcended her heritage to devote herself to battling injustice and inequality. Meticulously researched and passionately written, this enthralling tale introduces an extraordinary individual and her part in the defining moments of recent British and Indian history. Anita Anand has been a political radio and television journalist for over twenty years is currently the presenter of Any Answers on BBC Radio 4.
