The latest, and final, instalment in our Women in Leadership series will be focusing on gender representation in the media and communication industries. We are all too aware of the challenges women face in public life, especially in terms of the focus on women's appearance and attractiveness. And this is all too apparent in the media industry - both on and off screen. But there are many more ways in which women face barriers within the actual structures of media and public affairs. We'll be hearing from some brilliantly talented women who have made a significant impact within the media industry - be it as a frontline journalist, newspaper editors, or a specialist in PR and communications management.
We will be joined at this roundtable event by the incredible:
Emma Burnell - political commentator who has written for the Newstatesman, The Guardian, The Independent and Laboulist, as well as appearing on BBC and Sky News to discuss political events. Emma is the founder and Editor of leading Labour blog, Scarlet Standard.
Navprit Rai - Communications Manager at Trust for London. Nav is a former policy advisor for the Lib Dems. She has also worked for the Home Office and as a Communications Consultant.
Becca Wright - Public Affairs Manager at Ferrero. Previously Becca worked at a public affairs agency specialising in education and transport. She is the former Chair of the APPC's Young Consultants Committee.
This event is open to both female and male Young Fabian members & friends.
