The Young Fabians International Network and Health Network are delighted to invite you to a panel debate on the NHS in the context of Brexit.
The Brexiteers infamously told the British electorate that a vote leave would lead to an extra 350 million per week for the NHS. On the contrary, the result has left our public health system under severe threat. Approximately 57.000 EU nationals work within the NHS. Although the UK is still part of the European Union the consequences are already visible: The numbers of EU nurses registering with the NHS dropped by a remarkable 92% since the referendum and the number of EU nurses leaving the NHS increased significantly. Furthermore the European Medicines Agency, which is currently located in the UK is going to be moved to the continent. This could cause higher prices and a reduced access to pharmaceuticals.
