The recent IPPR Commission on Economic Justice has got the Westminster Village and beyond reacting and reflecting on its new vision for the UK economy: one that joins prosperity with justice. Their report, and the reaction to it, shows that we need urgent reform of our economic system. It also shows that it has never been more important to understand why it is time for a new way of thinking about economics.
Join the Young Fabian Economy & Finance Network at our Rethinking Economics workshop on Saturday 10th November to learn and participate with three excellent organisations: Ecnmy, Positive Money and Greenwich Political Economy Research Centre, who are dedicated to building a deeper understanding of how the UK’s economic system works.
We will debate and explore how as citizens, we can shape our economic system to better serve the common good. Topics we will explore include:
- How does our banking system work, and is it doing more harm than good?
- What exactly is economic growth, and is the definition serving us well?
- Why is the level of wealth inequality widening, and what can we do about it?
