Many of you will have heard about the recent death of Maureen Colquhhoun MP, the UK’s first out lesbian MP, who represented Northampton North from 1974-1979. Maureen was a trailblazer for women, especially queer women, in politics, and her story needs to be told, particularly now during LGBT+ history month. Join us for a discussion of her career and her legacy.

Holly Smith (Co-Chair, YF LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Group) will be hosting the event. Confirmed speakers so far are:

  • Sammy Sturgess, historian from the History of Parliament project and former academic at Goldsmith’s Centre for Queer History.
  • Carla Curtis-Tansley, the YF LGBTQIA+ AG Women’s Officer.
