How do we maintain media liberty in a climate of increasing hostility towards journalists?

The latest Press Freedom Index finds that "the number of countries regarded as safe, where journalists can work in complete security, continues to decline, while authoritarian regimes continue to tighten their grip on the media."

Please join us on 5 September for a panel discussion with:

Rosie Parkyn (Director, Internews)

Rebecca Vincent (Director, Reporters Without Borders)

John Grogan (MP for Keighley & Vice Chair of the APPG on Media Freedom)

Ollie Lund (Vice Chair, Labour Campaign for Human Rights)

A free press advocate for more than a decade, Rosie formerly worked with BBC Media Action before becoming a Director at Internews.

Rebecca joined Reporters Without Borders three years ago having previously worked with the US State Department & ARTICLE 19.

John is another long-time press champion, hitting the headlines last year after being dubbed 'Labour's only Leveson rebel'.

Ollie is at the forefront of Labour's policy-making around human rights - he currently heads-up the Britain and Her Allies campaign.

The event will start at 6:45pm at the Fabian Society Headquarters, and is open to all Young Fabian members.
