Owning the Future: a Young Fabians and Co-operative Party event
Time and date: 6.30pm, Tuesday 21 July
As we emerge from the Covid-19 lockdown, at least for now, we're at a crossroads. We can return to the unequal economy that characterised pre-Covid Britain, or we can create something better. The last few months have shown that we can respond to crisis with kindness, and communities have led the way.
It's time we gave communities more ownership of the wider economy. By widening ownership, we can narrow inequality and create a new normal – one where you own your workplace, own your community and own the future.
Join Anna Birley (Co-operative Party Policy Officer), Caitlin Beth Prowle (Co-operative Party Youth Organiser) and Mark Whittaker (Young Fabians Executive Committee) for a discussion on how to do this.
They'll be talking about the Co-operative Party's new report Owning the Future, which is full of ideas on workplace democracy, community wealth building, sharing economic growth across Britain, and tackling inequalities for good.
You can register for the Zoom event here.
The Young Fabians are the under-31 section of the Fabian Society, Britain’s oldest think tank and an affiliate of the Labour Party. The Young Fabians are a democratically-run organisation run by and for young people on the left, and there are many opportunities to get involved through our events and publications. Interested? You can join the Fabian Society here.
The Co-operative Party is the party of the co-operative movement, committed to building a society in where power and wealth are shared. The Co-operative Party has been in an electoral pact with the Labour Party since 1927, and Labour & Co-operative representatives have been elected to represent communities at every level across Great Britain. If you share our values, you can join the Co-operative Party here.
