Join us for the launch event of the Young Fabians One Nation Ideas Series Patriotism project.
We will be joined by the following speakers:
- John Mann MP Chair, All-party parliamentary group on antisemitism
- Ivana Bartoletti London Labour MEP candidate and chair, Fabian Women's Network
- Sunder Katwala Director, British Future
- Patrick Vernon Councillor, London borough of Hackney
We will be diving straight in to some of the most difficult issues this project faces, with a look into discrimination, integration, 'Englishness' and white identity in 21st century Britain.
Ultimately, we will be asking these questions:
- What unites us in an “inclusive patriotism”?
- Can patriotism escape nationalism and the right?
- What does it mean to be patriotic for BAME, LGBT, naturalised, white British and different religious communities in modern Britain?
- What do you feel patriotic about?
Those who attend will be encouraged to discuss these issues and questions, among others raised, with the speakers.
We look forward to seeing you on 19 May. If you have any questions about the project and how you can get involved, please do get in touch.
