Join the us for the first of four in a Spoken Word poetry series led by professional expressionist artist and poet Elysse Aako Adjemon. During this introductory session, Elysse will guide you step by step through the art of writing and performing. This event is co-hosted by the Young Fabians.

Elysse is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about imparting her love of creating art to others – this is why she set up her #FiercePainting and #FiercePoetry series.

Find out more about Elysse - https://elysseart.co.uk | Instagram @ArtByElysse

Starting promptly at 7.30pm, Elysse will begin by explaining her take on the basics of free-verse poetry and storytelling, drawing from her own experience. Elysse will then demonstrate and equip you with tools to begin writing your own expressive poetry through individual and group work. Towards the end of the session, everyone will come together and have a chance to perform their work if they feel comfortable.

By the end of the four workshops, you should feel confident in your ability, and know how to approach writing your own free-verse poetry.

The topics for each workshop are:

May 14th - Learn the basics of storytelling, free-verse poetry and use to write poetry based on a meaningful real life event
June 11th - Writing poetry using visual or literary prompts
July 9th - Writing poetry that stems from a specific emotion
August 14th – Performing…practice, practice, practice!

Tickets are £15 each and you are welcome to bring some beer or wine should you wish as there is not a bar on site. Spaces on the programme are very limited so please buy your ticket if you are interested. Any profit from the event will go towards the running of the Young Fabians, a youth led volunteer think tank.

We look forward to welcoming you to the event.
