A London Young Fabians event

Join the London Young Fabians on Friday 3 February at 7.30pm for a conversation with Charles Dunst, Deputy Director of Research and Analytics at The Asia Group, on his latest book, Defeating the Dictators, which explores the dangers of rising authoritarianism and the steps that must be taken by democracies to rebuild trust, restore accountability and build a better future for generations to come.

In Defeating the Dictators, Charles argues that democracy and individual freedom are no longer seen in many countries, such as China and the Gulf States, as the surest route to success. The book offers a plan of action to restore the tarnished reputation of the democratic model and to show that, when combined with effective governance, it still provides a far better future for humanity than any alternative.

Defeating the Dictators: How Democracy Can Prevail in the Age of the Strongman is published by Hodder and Stoughton in February 2023. Click the link to pre-order a copy of your book, which Charles will be happy to sign on the night.
