London Young Labour and the Young Fabians would like to invite you to our BAME Action day. This is a day of workshops and talks from prominent Labour BAME activist and commentators aimed at giving you the skills you need to be an effective Labour Party activist. This event is open to all LYL and YF members (Non-Bame members also welcomed)

Speaker details below:
Ayesha Hazarika: A leading political commentator and broadcaster. A former special advisor to, Harriet Harman. She played a crucial role in the governments of Blair and Brown, helping to devise both policy and political strategy.
Abena Oppong-Asare: A Councillor in Bexley, and the Deputy Leader of the Labour Group. Abena is also on the Fabian Women's Network Executive.
Dr Martin Edobor: He is the National Chair of the Young Fabians and a NHS Doctor specialising in General Practice. He founded the Young Fabian Health Network, which connects professionals, academics and policy makers in the health and social care sectors, providing a platform for debate and discussion. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Labour Party activist.
Vikram Grewal: Chair of the Young Fabian Finance Network and Co-Editor of the Young Fabian BAME Pamphlet looking at how to improve BAME representation within the Labour Party. He was also a keynote speaker at the BAME Labour conference last year.
Alvin Carpio: Currently lobbies and campaigns for policy changes to address poverty in the UK. He also advises governments and global corporations on leadership and social impact. He is a former board member of the UpRising Leadership Programme which seeks to shake-up leadership in our democracy. As a community organiser, Alvin previously led the Citizens’ Inquiry into the Tottenham Riots in response to the riots that shook Britain in 2011. He was recently made a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and was selected to represent the UK at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos 2016.
Kirith Ahluwalia: She is the Vice Chair of the Young Fabians International Network and regularly appears on BBC's Asian Network Radio station to talk about current affairs. She was recently on The Big Questions and currently works as a Parliamentary Assistant.
