Young Fabians Executive 2013-2014: Under 20s Officer (co-opted)

As under 20 officer my job is to, promote active participation of younger members . I believe it is vital that we engage ourselves at the forefront of debates and discussions to ensure that our voices are heard and taken seriously.

My aims for this year are to:

  • Represent the views of under 20 members
  • Organise socials/networking events for under 20's
  • Raise awareness on issues/policies effecting younger members (youth unemployment and  education)

Outside of Fabians, I am a student currently in my final year of sixth form studying a combination of Social Sciences. For the past few years, I have been involved heavily around youth activities in my community as the Waltham Forest Youth Ambassador, also as a member of the Legacy Youth Panel. Where I had the opportunity to write a manifesto which was presented to Mayor Boris Johnson and Tessa Jowell, promote the 2012 Olympics through radio interviews, news articles and was given the role of organising the 2010 Walthamstow Carnival. I am also involved in other wider general Young Labour activities. I am very passionate about charity work and have been working with the Legacy List Charity for the past two years.

I am very keen on increasing membership for younger members , so please do get involved. I have been a member for only a short while but it has been a very warm and welcoming experience, full of socials and good company. It's also a great way to meet new people, so sign up for any of our upcoming events and join us!
