With centrally imposed austerity bearing down on the metropolitan police service there has been a noticeable increase in certain types of crime in the nations capital. Local authorities are in a desperate situation trying to fight against it but with budgets cut there is a crisis in London and it is our communities that are suffering. We'll be hearing from a range of speakers about their experience of crime in the capital, its causes and how local government is responding.

This event will form part of the nationwide Young Fabians Local Government Policy Series

We will be joined by Unmesh Desai, Member of the London Assembly for East London, Sara Hyde, Vice-Chair of the Fabians Women Network, Florence Eshalomi, London Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark and Deeba Syed, Young Fabians Executive Member and Chair of Young Labour Lawyers.
