The Young Fabians' Ideas Series project on feminism is launching with a discussion forum on 2 June.

We will be joined by Reni Eddo-Lodge and Kirsty McNeill who will share their thoughts on a ‘One Nation’ feminism for the 21st Century.

Reni Eddo-Lodge is a freelance writer, and a contributing editor at Feminist Times. Her work can be found at The Voice Newspaper,  The Guardian, The Independent, openDemocracy, Dazed and Confused Magazine, the New Humanist, and websites such as The F Word and New Left Project. She sometimes appears on the radio, and was on the panel of judges for Woman’s Hour’s 2014 Power List, in which the panel deemed Doreen Lawrence the most influential woman in Britain. In March 2014 The Guardian listed Reni as one of the top 30 people under 30 working in digital media.

Kirsty McNeill is a strategy consultant to some of the world’s leading charities and campaigning organisations. She is part of the team behind www.ShouldWe.org, a non-partisan, crowd-sourced, online guide to public policy. Kirsty is a former special adviser in Number 10 and was a parliamentary candidate in the 2005 General Election, securing the biggest swing to Labour in the country. She sits on the board of Labour Women’s Network. As an Labour Women's Network trainer she has prepared hundreds of Labour women for public office. She has written for outlets including The Telegraph and New Statesman.

Over the coming months we'll be exploring the big questions confronting women on the left, with a series of events, articles and blog posts, and a contribution to a Fabian Society pamphlet ahead of the general election setting out a vision for the future of feminism.

We hope as many Young Fabians as possible will join us to discuss the key issues for women today  – equal pay, violence against women, multiculturalism, women’s portrayal in the media and many more.

There will be opportunities for members to shape Labour’s philosophy and develop their skills by taking ownership of various areas of the project. We hope to hear from members of all ethnicities, nationalities, cultures, religions, genders and sexualities.
