The rise of far right extremists such as the British National Party has been one of the most worrying political trends of recent times. This booklet sets out how the left can stop the far right.

As I write this introduction in September 2007, the BNP are standing an unprecedented number of candidates in the forthcoming local by-elections, taking place in the North West, the North East, the West Midlands, the East Midlands and the East of England. With ever more candidates, increased media attention and a rising number of votes, the BNP seems to be developing into an insidious part of the political landscape.
