Young Fabian Annual Report 2010/11 |
Guided by four strategic priorities, last year was hugely successful for the organisation and the report outlines high levels of member activism across the UK, a wide variety of activities provided for members, and detailed policy development and debate across high quality printed publications and the YF Blog.
As thinkers and doers, the Young Fabians remains the ‘go to’ youth movement on the left for policy discussion and international activities.
Highlights in 2011 included: - the Young Fabians Middle East delegation to Israel and Palestine
- a policy focus on the squeezed youth
- 3 new policy pamphlets including the first ever Young Fabian Women pamphlet, reflections from the Middle East delegation, and the outcomes from our four member-led policy groups ‘Ambitions for Britain’s Future’ launched by Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP
- a top ten position in Total Politics’ best Labour blogs poll
- 4 editions of Anticipations magazine, with members contributing alongside Tony Blair and Rowan Williams
- more members than ever getting involved and taking responsibility for organising activities
- the best fundraising effort in memory to facilitate an extensive programme of activity
- 90 events in total – including skills development workshops and socials
- sustaining 2010’s high membership levels
If there was one message to be taken from 2011, it was ‘get involved’. The Young Fabians, and indeed the wider left movement and the Labour Party, are stronger for utilising the skills and talents of supporters. The successes reported on could not have happened without inspiring and committed young people. Thank you to you all. Download here.
