Invitation to apply for mentorship

Are you new to the Young Fabians and unsure about how to get more involved in the society?

Are you looking for advice and support and think that other members of the Society might be able to help?

Are you ready to make a substantial contribution of time and effort to the Fabian Society or to politics on the left and would value the guidance of a senior figure in the movement?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, the new Young Fabian Mentorship Programme may be for you!

In the 2011/12 Young Fabian Executive Year, we are trialling a limited mentorship programme for YF members, aiming to connect those who would value mentorship to further their contribution to the Society, their career, or their other policy interests with those more experienced members of the Society and the Parliamentary Labour Party who may be able to provide useful mentorship.

We believe that one of the best ways that the Young Fabians can strengthen the Society and deliver for members is to help build their personal and social capacity and networks, creating new opportunities, exposing them to new people and ideas, and broadening horizons.

If selected for mentorship, you will receive a range of guidance and support and would have a face-to-face meeting with their mentor once every three months, most likely in London. Please note that in this trial year only 20 individuals will be chosen to take part in the Programme. Selections will be made on the basis of Executive consideration about who is likely to benefit most from the mentorship programme, who otherwise may not have access to senior members of the Fabian Society and relevant Parliamentarians and who will be in a position to give back to the Society.
