Chair: Joani Reid The key challenge of this Commission will be to investigate how young Britain is coping with the consequences of government fiscal retrenchment. Facing debt, a difficult labour market and a challenging housing market and sharply rising education costs the next generation of Britain is under huge pressure. This commission will look at how Labour should respond to the challenges facing the next generation. The specific areas which we propose to investigate are:

About Joani Joani Reid currently works in policy and public affairs in the housing industry. She previously worked for a child health charity and prior to that, worked with disadvantaged school children throughout Glasgow as part of a widening access participation programme. It was this work that propelled her into politics and motivated her to join the Labour Party. Joani stood as a Labour Party council candidate in East Dulwich, Southwark at the 2010 Local Elections and is former Secretary of Dulwich and West Norwood CLP. She has participated in many local and national elections in Scotland and England. Joani also participated in the Obama 08 US presidential campaign as part of the Young Fabian delegation to Ohio. |
