Young Fabian 'Picnic' @ Fabian Society New Year Conference Saturday 15 January 2011 Institute of Education, London Speakers at our lunchtime event were: Rushanara Ali MP, Dr Maurice Glasman, community organising expert and soon-to-be Labour peer, Adrian Prandle, Young Fabian Chair, Richard Serunjogi, Head of Policy for the Spirit of London Awards (SOLA) Foundation, and Jessica Studdert, co-author The New Generation and Facing Out on Labour Party reform. Building upon our work over the last two years on reform of the Labour Party, we will be exploring the ways in which Labour can (re)connect with young people both inside and outside of the party and demonstrating that the issues felt strongly by young people are not unique, but relevant to all. Whether about policy or process, issues felt most by young people are issues for the majority on the centre-left who care about life chances and fairness and see politics as a solution. The New Year Conference takes places from 10am-5pm and features a whole host of speakers and seminars including a keynote speech from Ed Miliband, Leader of the Labour Party.
