Shamik was elected to the Young Fabian Executive in 2009; he is the social and membership officer. Shamik has been an active member for many years, attending many events, contributing to policy debates and going on trips. Among his roles this year is to organise new members events, other social activities and of course, the highlight of the Young Fabian year, the summer boat party.

Shamik is the Assistant Editor of Left Foot Forward, one of the UK's biggest political blogs and its fastest growing, writing articles, commissioning and editing copy and investigating potential stories. He read maths at University College London and has more recently taken an NCTJ journalism training course.
