Nick Maxwell: Vice-Chair Membership

Nick MaxwellNick Maxwell

Vice-Chair, Membership

My main effort this year is to encourage and support members - those who are not on the Executive - to deliver projects or events. The offer is to provide opportunities for members when they have the get-up-and-go and energy to make something happen, providing them the support and guidance of the Fabians Society to help make it a success.

Currently, I’m in support of the following projects led by members off the main Executive:

The Schools Volunteering Programme

The Jobs Summit

The Fabianism & Trade Unionism in 2015

The Health Network

If you are a member and would like to talk about leading a project, then please don’t hesitate to email me. We’re here to add value to the members, to influence and expand the debate on the left, and to give members opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. If you just want to find out more about what we’re all about, get in touch too.

I work for an international research institute on economics and global governance, having worked in business and finance public affairs for four years. I’m also a Lance Corporal in the Territorial Army. I graduated from York University in PPE and spent an exchange year studying at the Ohio State University. During my time in the US, I had an academic internship at the US State Department and volunteered for the John Kerry 2004 election campaign. To wind down, I enjoy a good bit of rugby and currently serve as Fixtures Secretary for the Lobbyist Lobsters (Cross-party) Westminster Rugby team.
